Advisory Board Member

 Vanecia Weathersby Gray

Vanecia Weathersby Gray is a native of Corpus Christi, Texas who resides in Houston where for more than 25 years she has had the honor and privilege of serving in her field of calling, passion and choice.
Vanecia has served and led in various capacities with the thought shared by James Baldwin in mind: “For these are all our children, we will all profit by or pay for what they become”.

She has seen firsthand the
outcome of what if not interrupted becomes the life of a child or youth impacted by a society, community or system that has failed to intervene, protect and empower its most valuable commodity.

From justice involved to “system raised”, Vanecia has served and worked tirelessly with children and youth, to include the adults they become when we neglect to hear their voices and positively impact
what has the potential to be their plight if we standby seeing everything and saying nothing. From frontline “boots on the ground” to a seat at a table where she has sometimes had to “bring her own
chair” Vanecia has advocated, collaborated, and championed the worth of the fight for the lives of one of our most vulnerable populations, to include the imperativeness of our consistent and persistent
investment and action on their behalves.

It has been said that “one person can make a difference”; it is her firm belief that one person can; however, if when everyone that represents the “one” stands together, the impact of the power of that force of nature can neither be stopped nor deterred in the fight for the future we must and have an obligation to protect.
